Sorry Dad.

Today was a fun start as Greyson was chillin in his bouncy chair when we arrived.  He is really enjoying it now that he has gotten used to it.  I keep telling him that it is his and it will come home with him when he comes home, and also that we have a swing for him here so he won’t have to miss the one he likes at the hospital.  Anyway I picked him up as he was wide awake and held him for awhile.  Then we put him in his crib for a second for some reason.  When Stacy picked him up he coughed like he might be refluxing and she asked him if he was going to throw up.  “No” I said, “he’s fine”.  So she handed him to me and I was holding him and talking to him when all of a sudden….yep.  Projectile vomit!  I was pretty impressed as he shot it straight out about 4 feet (all across my chest).  Poor guy then kept smacking his mouth like he had a terrible taste in it.  I’m sure he did as it smelled bad.  After getting him some sugar water to suck on so he could get the bad taste out of his mouth I had to run to the store and buy a new shirt.  I was smart enough to buy two so now I have a backup to keep in the car for future emergencies.

We saw evidence again that Greyson’s lungs are getting a little stronger.  When the RT put him back on the cpap he started screaming and thrashing around like we were killing him.  It made the RT feel really bad.  Stacy and I finally got him settled down and he went back to sleep (he’d just fallen asleep prior to having to go back on cpap).  Then he was picking his head up and turning on his side like he wanted to roll over so I flipped him onto his back.  Not a wise move let me tell you!  Once again he was screaming like the world was coming to an end.  A little while later when he had settled back down we realized that he did all that screaming and thrashing around without a major de-sat.  Pretty impressive.

  1. That was great Greyson, learning to breathe even while being upset. It sounds like you can almost roll over, you are getting so strong, way to go. Greyson. Your dad threw up on us until he was two, they didn’t say it was from acid reflux though. We had to switch to soy milk but he still threw up only it smelled worse. I just know that it won’t be long and you’ll be going upstairs, more new adventures up there. Grandma Great and I are always praying for you and your mom and dad.

  2. Sounds like there is some real progress going on with you Greyson…..And Dad sounds like there is progress with you as well, you bought two shirts instead of just one…(I’m just kidding you bob). You guys are all doing so well as you cope with your new ” adventures and activities” each and every day….I admire you all so much and Greyson really is making progress. With each new picture we can see that he is so much more alert and awake and just growing….He is sooooo cute…..We love you all and are praying that each day will be better that the one before….Aunt Sue

  3. Wow, I can’t believe how big he is getting. He is so georgous. I read this site everyday and am seeing so much progress. I am so very impressed with your family and it strengths. I pray that Greyson will continue to get better everyday day and soon go home.

  4. Greyson your mom also had a lot of difficulty keeping her food down. Everytime Uncle Wayne (who had no children at the time) would pick her up she would let go. He didn’t stop picking her up tho, and neither did her daddy who managed to get it every time, as well. Sounds like your daddy is going to be the same way. We really love the picture today. What a sweetie. I am so proud you can give your strong opinion about things now and you seems to be getting away with it without any repercussions. Way to go buddy! Love to you all! M & D

  5. He is so cute! I don’t know you personally its kind of a round about way to knowing you, my mom is Brenda Dombrock she works with John Giles who attends your church and so she had me look at this website and now I look at it daily and is in my favorites! Greyson is so precious and is a true gift of God! I pray for him daily as well and I hope he gets to go home soon! He is in a great family as well as with God and he will be well taken care of! I also had a sick baby almost 16 years ago and I know what its like to have to leave your baby to go home! Take care and love him alot as they grow up way to fast! God Bless!

  6. My goodness Greyson – we are so thankful for this big step!

You know, we think you are quite the guy. KJ and I just shared your story and your pictures with KJ’s Nana, who is visiting from University Place. She was in awe – and agrees that you are indeed a miracle. She also thinks you are really cute and cute is a very good thing to be.

Keep having good days, enjoy your bouncy chair and take it easy on Dad’s shirts – although it sounds like he has your number, because he bought an extra shirt. Good going Bob.

We look forward to hearing about each new step you make. Know that you are in our hearts and prayers.

Hugs to you Greyson – and rest well,

    Judy & KJ
