and after playing with the frog lets play…..

Greyson was in a very playful mood today.  We played all kinds of games including touch dad’s nose.  He would touch my nose (with mom’s help) and then I would sit back and cover it up.  Greyson would just stare at me like he was trying to figure it out, and often like he was almost going to smile.  He played several other games with us as well.  It was a lot of fun.

Greyson got his nasal canula time extended to 6 hours today.  So he is back to six on canula, six on ncpap.  This was NOT because his blood gas numbers have been good, as they have continually been high 60’s to low 70’s.  Last night his c02 was 75 so it was a bit shocking that the Dr. ordered a longer canula time.  We’ll see how he does.  It will be very interesting to get the gastorintestinal ph impedence study done next week and see exactly what is going on with the reflux.  He seems to de-sat in relation to the reflux (as best we can tell) so this could help get him on track.  They have slowed his feeds down to 2 hours and put him on some medicine for reflux twice a day.  All of these things seem to help some, but don’t get us closer to comming home.  After 138 days in the NICU, we want Greyson home more than words can express.  Right now we are hoping he will make it home before 6 months, which would be March 25.  We’ll see as he’s got a lot of work to do before then.

  1. We keep praying for everything to get better so he can go home and I know he will, it just isn’t as fast as we would all like it to be. You two are so terrific with him and enjoy him so much and I know he loves you around the world and back already. Keep rejoicing for all the good times and pray that the drs. are Greysons angels that figure all this out.

  2. We are down to one week from today and Aunt Deb and I get to come for a visit……we can’t wait. Maybe this week the study will show what is going on an get Greyson on a faster track to coming home. Sounds like you guys have all kinds of fun with your new games and Greyson is lucky to have such cool parents! We know how badly you want to move upstairs and we are sure that Greyson would really like to as well but lets pray really hard that the reflux thing can be figured out and give some great insight as to what Greyson needs this week. Nothing is impossible with our God!!!! Go Bob on your sermon for today. (Sorry I got that wrong last week!) We love you so very much and only want good things to happen for you this week.

    Love,
    Tam

  3. We will also be praying for a good outcome from the study this week. Only good things can come from it because so many are working on it. We also want to see Greyson come home to be with Mom and Dad. Our God is an awesome God and he is with you every minute of every day. I am so glad that Greyson is getting more canula time even if his gases aren’t all that good. I know how much happier he is on it, but we don’t want to see him struggle with the breathing. Bob, we will be praying your sermon touches the hearts of those hearing it today. Stacy, Dad and I are praying for patience and understanding and Greyson we are praying that you will have another fun playful day today. Your Mom and Dad loves that so much! Hugs to you three! Mom and Dad

  4. Since Bob is my Associate Pastor and a good friend and close neighbor, my remarks MAY appear a little biased. However, after sitting through two Bob Westfall sermons this morning and having had the joy of watching/listening to Bob since he arrive at our church several years ago.. I want to pass on to him and his extended family [and this is the easiest way to do that] that his sermon(s) were just incredible. He used himself as his prime example and his point of Being Free with Christ and yet a slave to others [Galatians] struck a very positive chord with the congregation. [I am sure that prayers from his family – Tammy, etc.] went a long way to having Bob be a profound speaking person for the Lord this morning. Thank you Bob for the message! Oh — and yes, Valerie and I hope to visit little Greyson this week and pray for the growing boy daily. God Bless you Greyson and parents.
