Well we met with the RT for the ventilator today at our house. Our house seems to be OK so the next step is to meet with him in the hospital to plan a discharge date. They won’t deliver all the stuff for Greyson until right before he comes home, since the insurance won’t pay for it if they give it to us while he is still in the hospital. The good news is that is all moving forward. We haven’t heard anything from the nursing so on Monday we will make sure we get in touch with them.
I am very happy to say I was able to get Greyson out of bed and into a chair all by myself today. While it seems like it should be no big deal, it takes a bit of manuvering with all the tubes. Most of the problems come from the fact that it is a little intimidating. Parents who’ve been through this tell us we’ll get used to it and it will not be such a big deal. I’m sure that is the case but right now it seems like a daunting task to simply pick him up and move him around alone. Having said that it is already much easier when Stacy and I can work together, so doing it alone will improve over time as well I’m sure. Greyson was very playful today and stayed awake all afternoon and into the evening. We really had a lot of fun playing with him.
You know the greatest thing is you did it Bob. Some people would be afraid to try to pick him up by themselves. You and Stacy are amazing and Greyson is so blessed to have you two as I have said before. Every day is one day closer to coming home but for now just have fun playing each day.
Greyson is looking so great lately! All of the pictures have been so cute and I’m pretty sure that Greyson is one of the most photographed babies of all time!!!! It has been so much fun for us to “see” him everyday. I am so happy to hear that things are progressing towards going home. I know how anxious you and Stacy are but you are managing really well it seems. I hope Today is a good day for Stacy and Greyson as it is Sunday so Bob will probably be left at home. However soon Greyson will be at home and Sunday will become something entirely different than it has been for the Westfalls. We will pray for Greyson’s g tube today and that all will heal nicely.
