I love you mommy!

Greyson really does love his mom.  She puts in a lot of effort to give him all his medicines, hook up his feeds (he’s now getting all his food over 1/2 an hour!  OK wait not ALL his food but three hours worth at a time), etc. etc.  I think I’ll give her a gold star as a reward.

OK I’m sitting at my computer at home trying to remember all that happened today.  We are set up with the home health supply company who will be providing the ventilator.  The guy is coming out tomorrow to do the home inspection and get us all squared away.  He said it usually takes 10 days for them to get everything ready and delivered here as well as set up.  So that could mean we are 10 days away from Greyson coming home.  Then again who really knows?  We haven’t heard any more from the nursing side so we will have to do some checking if we don’t hear something by Monday.

The culture came back on Greyson’s g-tube and he has a staff infection.  They already have him on antibiotics for it so hopefully it will get better in the next day or so.  It is red and obviously uncomfortable for him.  The surgeon still has to come look at it to see if it needs to be drained.

In other news Greyson’s trach seems to be a bit small for him.  He is probably not ready for the next size up, but has quite a leak with this size.  They fixed it by injecting more water into the cuff and that seems to be working.  In case you are not familiar with cuffs (for trachs not on shirts) it is basically like a little water balloon that inflates around the trach tube in the throat to seal it off.  This is all good but could cause a problem as we have two other philly flex trachs that are the same size.  We change them once a month so if it is almost to small now, will the others work in three months?  They (hospital staff) will work with this and figure it all out.  That’s why we pay them the big bucks.  Should we be worrying about him outgrowing things?  You bet!  We weighed him today (which we haven’t done in quite awhile) and he was 13 and 3/4 pounds!  That’s right, almost 14 pounds!

We got Greyson’s new stroller today.  We had to buy a new one that is a double (yeah we have twins!).  Actually we got a double so Greyson can go in the front, and all his gear can go in the back seat.  This is going to be very necessary since Greyson will not be traveling light.

  1. Hey guys! So glad to hear things are moving along. He looks like such a happy boy. And a big one at that! Hope you are all. As always, I am thinking of you.

  2. Wow! What a special picture! Your little man is really growing. It is going to be something to get him home and all comfortable in his own home. We are praying for everything to fall in place and especially for that g-tube today! Dad and I want you to know how proud we are of the two of you. You are amazing and what an inspiration to others. Through you God is giving us a glimpse of all he can do and how faith in him can give us strength we never knew was possible. And to Greyson, keep up the good work. You are amazing, too. Gram and Papa loves you and can hardly wait to come play! Wow almost 14 lbs, that is getting big!! Have a wonderful day you three!!

  3. Amazing – that’s what this is. Praise be.

We are praying that Greyson’s infection is rapidly abated and that the cuff issue and the nursing factor in his homeward journey are successfully resolved. Home – what a wonderful day that will be.

You have all come so far with such faith and hope and love – you are indeed an inspriation. Thank you for sharing your son and your walk of faith.

Tell Greyson that we will send his piggy bank as soon as he is home. I may; however, have to exchange the coin KJ saves for bills so it travels better. I’ll weigh it first, though – if it’s his birthweight, we’ll sent the coin, because we’re still looking for the rock.

Be well Stacy and Bob – you are doing a great job. And to Greyson, continue to rest well and be well – you are doing a great job, too.

    With love,

    Judy & Jim & Laura & KJ

  4. Bob Stacy and Greyson,
Another great day in the Amazing Journey and a super pic of mommy and Greyson! We are so glad to hear you are one step closer to being home! How exciting. We’ll pray for the healing of his infection and for the trach issues to be resolved soon.
God Bless and know that we think of you always.
    Love,
    Your Zamora cousins

  5. This picture is so cute of Greyson and his mom. You can tell by his eyes how much he loves his mommy. So many things happening and before you know it he will be home. What a big task but I know you will do it well. I am praying for that infection to be taken care of quick so that Greyson will be all better to go home. Little Greyson you are one in a million and we love you so much.

  6. wow, I cant believe he is almost 14 pounds! (I bet its nice not to be weighing in grams anymore!) That is like a toddler! He looks so good. If you guys have a baby shower or celebration get-together when he is finally home, please do send an invitation my way. I would love to see him in his OWN house. I hope you are doing well. I send my thoughts and prayers.
