Oh Really?

Greyson was quite the ham today, when he was awake anyway.  He slept the majority of the day but woke up a bit this morning and played with us for awhile.  Watching him wake up you would have thought you were watching an adult.  He would crack his eyes open and stretch his arms all around and wiggle around.  Then he would snap his eyes back closed and basically drift back to sleep for a couple seconds before doing it all over again.  When the Dr. did rounds he woke up again and had fun showing the Dr. how hard he could squeeze his finger.  It was funny because the Dr. talked to us about how we could hold him again after his first trach change, and how he wanted a turn too!

While there has been talk about it being done tomorrow, Greyson will probably have his first trach change on wednesday.  He is going to get a special trach called a philly flex eventually, but it will not arrive in time for this first trach change.  The philly flex is nice because it sticks out a bit further from Greyson’s chubby throat and has a built in swivel that helps keep the vent from pulling on the neck.  It will be a big day on that day because they are also going to try to switch Greyson to the home style ventilator.  This will be a little bit different, and some kids can’t tolerate it for awhile and have to work up to it.  We are praying all will go smoothly as he switches to this other ventilator, which will help us learn to use it for when he comes home.

Today was a great day largely because it was full of plans and preparations for bringing Greyson home.  We are still a little ways off from that day, but it sure is nice to talk about it!

  1. He sure looks relaxed! If he was being a ham, we know who he gets that from!! So glad the homecoming day is getting closer. As much as you guys have learned lately, I’m sure your medical degree is in the mail. Hope everything moves quickly now!

  2. What a great picture! He is so cute. What a praise the lord, talking about coming home. We are so excited and very impressed on your doctorite degree you will have.

  3. Oh that smile! I want a turn to hold him too! Don’t forget okay? It is great news to hear all of the talk about him coming home. What fun that will be!!

  4. He looks so cute, I want a turn to hold him too. I had so much fun holding him on the very 1st day of this year. What a way to start out the year. It sounds like things are going really well and we’ll pray he tolerates the home vent as well. It’s so nice to hear about Greyson getting to go home. Especially when you think today he is 6 months old. Of course he really is only 2 months and 6 days old. But even then it is way past time to go home. Take care the 3 of you and have a fun day.

  5. The doctor may have to get in line…or is it us who will have to get in line to hold your precious boy. He sure looks adorable in this picture. We are so happy things are looking so good. Now for a little more medical training and your off. Hope today is another wonderful day. Love you all…

  6. He is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo precious! He looks great! He is one that just could be kissed all day long, with those cheeks and kissy lips! I am so glad he is doing better, I keep track on him daily and pray for the 3 of you! I bet you are both anxious to hold him again, it is hard when you can’t! Take care and God Bless!

  7. What great news.

We continue to give thanks for Greyson’s progress and ask, too, that he tolerates the home style ventilator.

Greyson, you are a handsome boy. Have a great day with mom and dad.

Rest well and be well, little one.

    Love,

  8. I haven’t responded to the blog in while but it doesn’t mean that I haven’t been checkin it out! Greyson just keeps looking better and better. That is awesome. His eyes tell it all! I can’t even believe that he is 6 months old today. 1/2 a year and sooooooooo precious and finally getting better and talking about going home. That is just astounding to think about. Hope you guys have a fun day……and just so you don’t forget (Gramma’s and Doctors) some of us are still waiting for our FIRST time to hold Greyson. 🙂

  9. I see how it is…..He wakes up when I’m not there. Just kidding! I can’t get enough of that face. How Cute! Better put me on the holding list. It’s been too long. I can’t wait to have him in my arms again. I hope you guys have a great day today. Give the little guy a kiss for me. See you three soon.

  10. Wow, Home!!!!! that has a wonderful ring to it. Sounds like Greysons
fan club will be waiting in line for the wonderful experience of holding hiim and telling him how special he is. Stacy you could really work that to your advantage. Line up people to hold him when you need to attend to other things. I know you and Bob will be plenty ready to get in all that Mom and Dad time first. When Bob’s Mom wrote that he’s really 2months 6 days old, that really made me think about what you guys have been through. Praise God, he sustains us especially during the times when our own strenth fails us. ” You Two” have been such an inspiration to all of us. Bob I hope you will continue to write in the blog for awhile. We look foward to it so much………

  12. What a precious angel smile and his eyes are so gorgeous and wide open! He’s looking more alert and healthy each day like he wants to get up and play. Good to hear all that you guys are doing in preparation for him to come home. I hope that I can be on of the ones who gets a chance to hold him soon too. I feel like I know him from this blog and hearing about how he is responding and reacting every day really is such a joyful blessing to me.

Love and blessings to you all,
    Elaine

  13. I just cannot convey how much joy I get from see his smile. And if it makes me feel this good, I certainly can’t imagine how you two must feel. I can’t wait until you guys get to go home, but I sure will miss getting to visit.
