Do what you will, but I aint waking up for it!

Greyson continues to hang in there.  They weened the rate on his ventilator down a bit today and lowered the amount of terbutiline he is getting.  I don’t think I mentioned this, but if I did forgive me.  Anyway last saturday when Greyson first was moved to Mary Bridge we came in his room after they had worked him over and got him set up how they wanted him.  As we scanned the list of meds he was getting we noticed turbutiline.  We were both stunned.  Now we have become familiar with this drug in the last 6 months but only because Stacy was getting it in the hospital to keep her from having Greyson!  Maybe it means nothing to all of you, but I found it humorous that the drug that was to keep Greyson from coming out into the world is now helping him breath.  You might have to have my sense of humor, but I share it none the less.  Anyway he is almost off it and will probably get off it tomorrow.  This is another significant step in his improvement.

Another family in the unit let us come by and see their baby today.  It was very significant as their baby has a trach.  We got to go and watch them do a trach change.  While it will be scary at first it looked like something we will be able to handle.  It was so nice to be able to watch this and talk to these parents about the trach and getting set up to go home.  We are praying when Greyson gets ready that the pieces will fall into place quickly, as this family has been ready to be discharged for a month but has been unable to get the home nursing setup.  In the midst of all your prayers for Greyson’s healing, we’d appreciate everyone starting now to pray that this process goes smoothly and quickly when we are ready for it.

  1. God has performed so many miracles in Greyson’s life. When you bring him home in the next couple of months, those miracles will just multiply over & over as we continue to help in whatever ways you need us (prayer/cleaning/nursing care/whatever). The challenges are great – but so is the strength of our Lord.

  2. I will definately pray for the nursing for Greyson when he comes home. I can’t imagine it being a problem though when you had a dr. willing to come to the home for his visits before Greyson was born. I would think he is a pretty special dr. and probably knows a pretty special nurse or two. Sleep well, Greyson and know you are loved.

  3. We are thanking the Lord that Greyson continues to improve. We will keep on praying and trust that God will continue to provide all that you need in the days and weeks to come. Sending a lot of love to the three of you! We miss you!

  4. I’m glad you are getting acquainted with other families in the PICU. Hopefully you will be able to draw on each other for strength and friendship. We want you to know that you are in our thoughts all the time. We will continue to pray Greyson makes progress each and every day. We will be praying for all the pieces including the nursing help to fall in place. We are so looking forward to that wonderful day when Greyson can come home! Love to you…Mom and Dad

  5. How nice of the family to let you come in and meet their little one and watch the “how to’s.” Friendships like that could only help. Thanks again for sharing the news with us! It helps make it seem like you are not so far away! No matter how far away you are though, you are always in our thoughts and prayers! Hang in there and know that you are well supported and loved!

  6. Its nice to read that Greyson is SLOWLY getting better. We will continue to pray for his lungs, his heart, the upcoming surgery and then the nursing care to follow as well as for you and Stac. We love you all so much and if all we can do to help is pray that is a fairly easy job!!! Hope you have a good day today and thank you so much for continuing to let us know how things are going by updating this blog.

    Love,
    Tam
