Don’t mind my drool.

Due to the fact that Greyson is heavily drugged, he tends to drool a lot.  It’s kind of funny at times.

Tonight Jaemi (one of Greyson’s old NICU nurses) came and brought us dinner.  She actually came and sat with us on Tuesday while we waited for his PDA ligation to get over with.  Then she offered us dinner tonight since we thought Greyson would have his other surgeries today.  Well even though they were canceled, she still brought us dinner.  A home cooked meal at the hospital, it was awesome!!

Greyson’s pressures are better today and the Dr said during rounds that he had really showed some improvement over the last 8 hours or so.  The new plan is to back off the muscle relaxer drugs tomorrow and see how he does.  Hopefully he can get off these soon so we can interact with him again.  While on these he is essentially paralyzed.  He can twich a little but that is about it.  Not so much fun for the parentals.

Anyway he will also get circumcised tomorrow as long as he is continuing to do well.  As far as the rest of the surgeries go, they are going to wait till week after next.  This should allow his lungs to heal and strengthen before the next round of big surgeries.  While that adds another week to the waiting for the surgeries, it does mean we will have the surgeon that we like so that will be good.

On another note, we talked to the discharge nurse today about some of the going home stuff.  This is still a long ways off, but it was nice to actually be talking for real about it!  She was absolutely amazed at our insurance and said that she had contacted a home nursing company and it looks like that whole process should go fairly smoothly when we get to that point.  Again this is still awhile out, but it was nice to be actually working on some of the details to bring him home!

So nothing much to report, his lungs continue to be fragile but he is doing better.  A week and half and he should be ready to get these other surgeries over with and work on getting his settings down so he can come home.

  1. Wow! It must feel wonderful talking about bringing Greyson home. I am so glad you had such a good meeting with the discharge nurse. Our Lord knows that the two of you have waited so patiently for this time to come. I am sorry Greyson has to be so sedated, but what fun you will have when he wakes up. We will be praying that the surgery tomorrow will be quick and we will be praying Greyson has a very speedy recovery from it. He is so special and we love him so much. We hope you can feel our love. We would love to be there to wrap our arms around you three. The blog just gets better and better. Your ability to convey what is going on is amazing to us. We thank you both so much for your dedication in getting the word out each and every day and sometimes twice. Hugs to you three….Mom and Dad

  2. We are thinking about you all daily and are in continual prayer for Greyson and his mommy and daddy and their spirits and energy. You two are warriors. Greyson is so lucky to have born to the two of you. When we read all of your updates we are amazed by your strength. We will continue to pray for the three of you and can’t wait to hear more about when Greyson will get to come home and see his real bedroom. We love you all. James, Becki, Mason and Cooper

  3. I’ve checked the blog frequently, but haven’t added anything in several days. I have been wondering what to say and how to say it so that you would know how very special you all are. And then I read you comments titled Reflections and I had to get a Kleenex and just sit and reflect myself for a bit. I won’t sit and wonder what to write again. And yes, you are certainly a Pastor.

I trust in God and pray Greyson’s surgeries are successful, that he heals well and is comfortable, and that each one is another step towards going home. And although this won’t happen as soon as you would wish, how marvelous to be talking to the discharge nurse about this.

You are always in my thoughts and prayers and I’ve added your Grandpa, too. To all of you, rest well.

Good night Greyson and be well,

    Judy

  4. This latest news is such an answer to prayer as I and a partner were praying yesterday morning that you would be able to have the same surgeon that you liked and felt so good about do the 2nd round of surgeries. We also prayed that Greyson would have time to recover and get stronger inbetween surgeries and God sure answered our prayers overnight! I guess the waiting time is just what God ordered for Greyson. Thank you Bob and Stacy for all that you’ve been sharing with all of us, and we are continuiing prayer and alot of praises to God for his answers.

God’s Peace and Blessings to you three,
    Elaine

  5. How great to finally be chatting about going home and what a blessing your insurance is great!!! Greyson is just getting so big! I cannot wait to someday meet this little guy who has just stolen so many hearts already in his short life. Have a wonderful Friday and know you have many who think and pray for you daily.
