Grandma’s fun.

img_0015.jpg

Greyson has been enjoying having his grandma here to play with him.  I’m not sure who thinks who is funnier, but they seem to laugh at each other quite a bit.  He has really enjoyed showing off his new tricks, as well as the fact that grandma brought more presents to put under the tree for him.

Well it’s now monday night and Grandma is back in Idaho (hopefully getting close to being home about now, don’t forget to call us so we know you’re safe!).  Greyson has been a bit grumpy as we are keeping him awake trying to get him back on a decent sleeping schedule (he’s been sleeping a lot during the days and waking up during the night).   Our nurse was not able to make it tonight so we are all bundled up in our bedroom to keep warm.  It’s COLD!  OK so I’m going back to our room which is warmer and I’ll try to put something cool up tomorrow.

They are all for me!!!

christmas-tree.jpg

Well I know we haven’t posted much lately but we are still here, and doing pretty good.  Greyson is basically his usual self which is great to be around but doesn’t provide a whole lot of stuff to talk about on a blog.  As you can see from the picture he can now sit up on his own quite well and loves to do so.  He can’t get there on his own, but does really well once he’s up.  I will say he doesn’t like falling and cries most of the time unless you catch him, which we do most of the time.

Greyson is getting excited for christmas as he looks under the tree.  That probably stems from the fact that all of the presents are for him!  He may start to confuse christmas with his birthday.  Stacy and I already opened our gift to each other (we actually never wrapped it but opened it out of the box once we bought it).  It actually played a crucial role in this picture.  We got each other a lighting kit.  Not exciting to most of you, but will be very helpful for Stacy’s photography and my videography so we are excited.

We are also praising God for a new nurse.  She is working during the days on Fridays and then three nights a week.  Actually she would be here right now but she had to call in sick.  Hope it’s nothing serious as I’m really starting to like this thing called sleep, especially now that I’m actually getting a bit of it!

Me and my……drum?

drum1.jpgdrum.jpg

Tonight I let Greyson play with a marvelous new toy (otherwise known as an empty decorative tin can).  I also put on this hat that Stacy and Michelle got for me from Lowe’s (they were having a grand opening of a new store so they got the hat, a screwdriver, small keychain flashlight……..whatever).  Anyway Greyson was having a great time banging on it and pushing it out in front of him.  It was fun to watch.  The boys worked on this while the girls (Michelle and Stacy) put the ornaments and lights on the tree.

We are gearing up for Christmas and it is fun to be setting up decorations and making plans for our family.  Aside from last year, we have never been here on Christmas day.  Even last year we simply woke up and rushed down to Tacoma where we spent the day so we really weren’t here and didn’t decorate or anything.  So this will be Greyson, and our, first Christmas!

So I wasn’t able to post last night because I was doing some other things for our church website (we are redesigning it) and I kind of messed something up so I was unable to access the church website, the blog, basically anything from a certain server.  That’s geek speak for I did a bad thing and couldn’t get to the blog to make the post.  Anyway yesterday was another signifcant anniversary (at least to me).  One year ago last night Greyson came off the ventilator for the first time.

SANTA!!!!!

kitsap-mall_20081125_000087.jpgkitsap-mall_20081125_000089.jpg

Dear Santa,

I try real hard to be good this year.  I make it home from hospital and only go back once.  Mommy and daddy tell me that was not my fault, I had kidney stone from the medicnes  doctors give me.  Sense then I not been back though, I keep the stone in my kidney for now.

I work hard to learn new things and am real good most of the time.  I know lately I have cry a lot when mom and dad suction out my nose, but its real bad feeling.  I dont like my runny nose I have today.  I don’t like when they suction my nose either.

Anyway for christmas this year I really was hoping you could bring mommy and daddy some sleep.  I think they need it.  I sleep good but they stay up and do things like feed me and change my diaper all night.  Somtimes they have to put something in my neck which makes all the goobers come out.  I don’t like that when I’m sleeping!

So last year I ask for a wii but I not get it.  You probably not deliver it to me sense I was in the hospital.  This year I will be at my home.  I have my own room even though I sleep in mommy and daddy’s most nights.  I sleep in my room tonight with the nice nurses that come visit me.

Oh and I would also like a computer for me for christmas because I really really really really really really really really really really like to type on daddys computer board.  Its real fun but sometimes daddy sits me to far away to reach.

Even though I ask for presents I know that you and Jesus are friends.  I am going to wish him happy birthday on christmas.  His birthday is more important than presents.  I like presents.

I love you Santa,

Greyson

Hat Head

hat-head.jpg

Today Greyson decided that he didn’t want to brush his hair, so he threw down the brush next to him and donned this fun puppy hat.  Well actually we bought it for him while we were out shopping.  Yep we braved the mall.  While there we saw one of Greyson’s NICU nurses.  It was funny because I didn’t recognize her at first but thought she looked familiar while we were standing talking to some other people.  When we finished our conversation she waved at us and I kept thinking, “now where have we seen her before?”.  She lives in Bremerton and now has a baby of her own.  Nurses look different when they are not in their scrubs which makes it hard to place them when you see them dressed in “street” clothes”.  We decided it would be “relatively” safe to take Greyson out to the mall since no one would be touching him.  We failed to consider all the people from church we would run into though!  It was fun and we are trusting God to keep him safe.  It was fun to get out.

We thought about going out early but all the best deals seemed to be for TV’s and we aren’t buying a TV this year.  Instead we are buying Greyson his synagis shots.  What’s that you ask?  Starting in December and continuing every month until RSV season is over (RSV is a NASTY respitory infection that could be very deadly if Greyson caught) Greyson will get this shot to protect him from RSV.  These shots are a bit pricey, coming in at $10,000 a shot!  Nope that’s not a typo, they are expensive!  Once again we are very thankful for good insurance (the copay on the shots is $750, but we will only have to pay for one or two of those).  The good part is Greyson is WAY more fun to watch than a TV!  We love our little “GreSony” and it even goes with you from room to room!

A Thanksgiving Song for you

dsc_5206.jpg

Albequerque, he’s my turkey he is feathered and he’s fine,
Albequerque, he’s my turkey and I’m so glad he’s mine.
He’s the best pet that you’ve ever met, better than a dog or cat,
Albequerque, he’s my turkey and I’m so glad of that.
Albequerqe he’s my turkey he is cozy in his bed,
’cause for our Thanksgiving dinner we had scrambled eggs instead!

We are Thankful!
Bob is thankful for friends and loved ones who are so important to us.  Stacy is thankful for God’s provision to our family this past year.  Greyson is thankful for health and all the people who care about him.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Ha ha! I got my grandparents back!

img_0350.jpgimg_0349.jpg

Greyson’s grandparents made another visit this weekend.  It has been a blast seeing Greyson show off all his new tricks to them.  He has been playing pretty hard, so I hope he will still have some energy to play tomorrow when I get to watch him all day.

I have to comment on the video I posted last night (via youtube, so if you search Greyson catching ball on youtube you can find it there too!).  It was impressive to us because he was catching the ball a lot like he did at the end of the video, before it hit his chest.  Then by the time we got the camera out he missed it a lot because he was getting distracted by his feet.  I may not have mentioned that a couple weeks ago Greyson “found” his feet and really enjoys grabbing them and playing with them.  He’s really doing everything a “normal” baby should do.  Just in his own time and slightly different order.  It sure is fun to watch him pass these developmental “milestones”!

Wow, that’s cool!

So today is a day we are celebrating because we realize that Greyson has now been home longer than he was in the hospital!!  Can you believe that?  They say time flies but man it goes SOOOO much faster when you are home not worrying as much everyday.  God has been so good to us and we are extremely blessed to have Greyson in our lives.  I’m having some trouble trying to upload a video I made for everyone today.  So be patient I’m working on it.  It may have to wait till tomorrow.
