so you say these are called fingers huh? Amazing.

Greyson continues to “come out of the fog” of the narcotics and every day acts more like the boy we knew before being transfered to the PICU.  It’s amazing how getting sick set him back in his development.  Today he was kicking his legs and swinging his arms and making a very unhappy face, everything a baby should be doing.  Then I changed his poopy diaper and he was very happy and continued everything stated above, but with a smile.  Speaking of poop (which I have come  to realize we haven’t talke about for quite some time) yesterday Greyson had a major blow out and I was not careful enough when I wrapped it up so as I took it to the scale (yeah do to Greyson’s situation we are blessed not only with the daiper, but we get to weigh all of them before throwing them in the garbage, oh joy!) it leaked out and pooped all over my hand!!  Now as I have stated before Greyson and I have a pact, no pooping or peeing on dad.  He’s upheld his part of the agreement so far, unfortunately I have to be more careful if I want to keep it off me!

Today we took Greyson for another walk.  We had to stay on his floor but did laps around the hall by the PICU.  The great thing was that he was awake this time!  He really seemed to like it.  He just kept looking all around like, wow we are moving around a lot and there is a lot of stuff to see, could this be the “world outside my room” that my parents are always talking about?

Tomorrow Greyson’s ventilator comes in and will be delivered to the hospital (pray this happens, if something goes wrong he doesn’t come home on Thursday!).  We will also take over his care tomorrow around noon and will live in his room with him providing all his care for 48 hours.  While there is a pull out couch that makes into a bed (which I’m very familiar with as that is what I slept on for the 2 weeks before Greyson was born while Stacy was in the hospital on her head) one of us will have to be awake the whole time.  It’s OK if we nod off for a minute or two, but basically we have to be there to do everything which means we have to be awake and on top of it.

Tomorrow we are also meeting with the nursing company, and one of the nurses who will be working with us.  Pray that they can line up the remainder of the nursing before Thursday so Stacy and I will not have to carry extra care duty and can find some times to sleep.  Alright, Lord willing this will be the last update from home (I came home for tonight to go to my men’s group and staff meeting in the morning, Stacy is still in Tacoma) as starting tomorrow, we aren’t leaving Greyson’s room till we can take him with us!!!!

  1. It will be like a sit in , We’re not leaving until Greyson comes with us! I love the plan, Lord willing it will work. It sounds so good to hear how he is progressing and how much fun you are all having. We will definately keep praying for everything to come together, keep believing it will and it will. This time in 3 days you will all be home. Take care and get some good sleep tonight.

  2. Wow! What a story your young man has been the star of. We can hardly wait to see him home in his own bed and environment. He will have so much to look at. As always prayers are for all the final arrangements and a good trip home. Enjoy that pull out bed at the hospital! You three are so amazing and we love you all so much. Blessing to you all. Love Mom and Dad

  3. What a roller coaster adventure this has been for the three of you. Now you guys get to start a new chapter. I will be sad that I don’t get to see you guys as often, but absolutely ecstatic that Greyson gets to go home. Don’t forget your NICU friends. We were talking at lunch last night about how we should have gotten a picture for our wall the other day when you visited. Bob, if you get the chance send us some. I love walking by the wall and seeing updates. I am so happy for you guys. I will talk to you soon.

  4. WOW… the big day is coming fast! We are so excited for you guys! If you need or want anything please… please let us know. We would be happy to do anything!

  5. Hopefully the day went well and you are on track for the big “sit in” and then the finale of getting to go home! We sure wish we could be there but we are so excited to see pictures of the BIG day! We hope you will continue to update us from home~ it should be soo much easier! I am not sure we could stand a day without a peek at that special little guy! We love you bunches!

  6. Hi Guys! I am so bummed I missed your visit. I wanted to come visit this week but have been under the weather, and I don’t want to delay Greyson’s fishing expedition. If I am feeling better Thursday morning I hope to stop by and say hi. Congratulations on all your accomplishments! Look how far you have come!

  7. Greyson, what a journey you and mom and dad have had – and it’s all chronicled by loving parents, so you’ll be able to read it one day. Sounds like Thursday is the big fishing day – we will be praying for all to go well and that no one gets sea sick!

Young Greyson, rest well and know that you are in our prayers, as are mom and dad. Be well.
