{"id":517,"date":"2008-04-24T20:36:32","date_gmt":"2008-04-25T04:36:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/?p=517"},"modified":"2008-04-24T20:36:32","modified_gmt":"2008-04-25T04:36:32","slug":"moms-the-best-but-boppy-is-nice-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/?p=517","title":{"rendered":"Mom\u2019s the best, but boppy is nice too."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/april-24-026.jpg\" title=\"april-24-026.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/april-24-026.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"april-24-026.jpg\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/april-24-028.jpg\" title=\"april-24-028.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/april-24-028.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"april-24-028.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well today we got our first shake up of life at home.\u00a0 Stacy called me at work and told me we needed to take Greyson to Tacoma to see one of his Doctors.\u00a0 He has developed some granuloma tissue which is the bodies reaction to a foreign object (in this case his g-tube).\u00a0 When\u00a0Stacy called to talk to them about it they\u00a0told us we needed to come in right\u00a0away and get it taken care of, as if you leave it\u00a0alone it can turn into a much bigger problem, and ultimately could lead to significant scarring later.\u00a0 So\u00a0I came home from work and we\u00a0loaded all of his stuff\u00a0up with all the batteries and headed off to Tacoma.\u00a0 The treatment was no big deal, done by the nurse, and hopefully will take care of it.\u00a0 Greyson was very good and really only cried when they put the lidacane on it to numb it (it was cold).\u00a0 We were very proud of him and I tried to get Stacy to stop and get some ice cream to shoot down his feeding tube but she said that was really not something we should do.\u00a0 With this type of problem (the granuloma, not the lack of ice cream) sometimes you have to do this\u00a0treatment a few times, and sometimes you have to keep doing it as long as you have the\u00a0foreign object.\u00a0 We are hoping this will take care of it completely and we can be done with it.<\/p>\n<p>Greyson also required A LOT of suctioning today and some of it was a little yellow (not good, sign\u00a0of infection).\u00a0\u00a0We adjusted his settings and he seems to be doing better tonight.\u00a0 His secretions were thin and clear or white (how they should look).\u00a0\u00a0The company is still struggling to find all the nursing we need, so tomorrow we are\u00a0on our own from 7am till 11pm.\u00a0 (I think that is when the night\u00a0nurse is coming, not positive but I know she is working\u00a0the night shift).\u00a0 I\u00a0am going to work\u00a0from home so\u00a0I can be a back up to Stacy since this will be our first prolonged period home alone with\u00a0him.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0So I played Dr. tonight and turned down his oxygen, which I think was the right thing to do.\u00a0 Not sure if I&#8217;m supposed to or not, but I&#8217;ve been in the hospital a long time and watched so I thought I&#8217;d give it a try.\u00a0 Basically my rationale for doing it was pretty solid.\u00a0 See in the hospital he was running 3\/4 a liter of oxygen.\u00a0 Well when we showed up with all our stuff to bring him home I realized our stuff only goes in 1\/2 or 1 liter.\u00a0 So I set it at 1 liter and that is where he has been.\u00a0 I figured better to give him a little more than he needs than a little less.\u00a0 Anyway he has been stating great since we brought him home so tonight I decided to try him on 1\/2 liter.\u00a0 We are keeping our eyes on him (as we always do anyways) but so far he has been doing just fine.\u00a0 So if anyone needs a medical consult I&#8217;m availible, and my rates are quite a bit lower than what the hospital charges!\u00a0 (a notarized medical waiver releasing me from all liability will be required before any consultation can commence).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well today we got our first shake up of life at home.\u00a0 Stacy called me at work and told me we needed to take Greyson to Tacoma to see one of his Doctors.\u00a0 He has developed some granuloma tissue which &hellip;
