{"id":364,"date":"2008-02-20T19:11:34","date_gmt":"2008-02-21T03:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/?p=364"},"modified":"2008-02-20T19:11:34","modified_gmt":"2008-02-21T03:11:34","slug":"drugs-make-me-sleepy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/?p=364","title":{"rendered":"Drugs make me sleepy\u2026\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/wednesday.jpg\" title=\"wednesday.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/wednesday.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"wednesday.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Greyson continues to be very sleepy with all the sedatives and pain meds he is getting.\u00a0 He is off the muscle relaxers (sort of) so we are able to see him open his eyes and look around as well as move a little.\u00a0 They have given him muscle relaxers periodically through the day, just not on a continuous basis.\u00a0 It is sad to watch as he is able to move he gets the shakes from coming off the drug.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They have weened his nitric oxide down to 5 parts per million, and if all goes well he should get off of it all tomorrow.\u00a0 They have also made changes to his ventilator (they&#8217;ve made quite a few changes all week) the major change for today was to change it to allow Greyson to take breaths on his own, with the ventilator supporting the breaths.\u00a0 If that doesn&#8217;t make sense I&#8217;m not sure how to help, as this is a complex part of the ventilator.\u00a0 Basically so far the vent has just been breathing for him, now it is is letting him try to breath and helping him take a breath when he tries.\u00a0 The long and short of it is that it is a positive change.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While I haven&#8217;t looked at his gas sheet today, it appears they have been OK.\u00a0 His c02 is still higher than we would like, but I think the ph is within the range it should be (remember we have learned that while we would like all the numbers to be in the right range, the ph apparently is the most important).<\/p>\n<p>Greyson&#8217;s pressure has also been a bit better today, this is the pressure it takes for the ventilator to give him each breath.\u00a0 With the chronic lung disease (and the infection) his lungs can get tight and it can take more pressure to give him each breath.\u00a0 The pressure lowering is one of the signs that he is doing a little better.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They changed his antibiotic to a different one today as well.\u00a0 As they identify exactly what bugs he is fighting they are able to tailor his antibiotic cocktail to what will best attack what he is fighting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So overal he is still a very sick boy, but is showing some signs of improvement.\u00a0 As we know all to well, it is going to take time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow we are meeting with a pediatrician to see if he will become Greyson&#8217;s primary Dr.\u00a0 We will also be meeting with the pulmonary specialist to talk about the trach plan and all that means etc.\u00a0 So tomorrow should be a brain filling day of new information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greyson continues to be very sleepy with all the sedatives and pain meds he is getting.\u00a0 He is off the muscle relaxers (sort of) so we are able to see him open his eyes and look around as well as &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/?p=364\">Read More <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[465],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-364","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/364","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=364"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/364\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=364"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=364"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/westfall.raquet.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=364"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
